The Souterrains web site is extending continuously. I have made a
connection between the web and my databases on musea related to
souterrains, like mining musea etc.
You can now scan the world for sites to visit. Please feel free to
use the information, but most of all, use the form and send me
information on new sites, so others can visit underground sites as
well. Check it out at http://www.xs4all.nl/~jorbons/home.html

Recently a new book was published on the four years research in
Cappadocia by the Italian Speleological Society (SSI).
This excellent books contains 14 articles on several subjects
concerning the Cappadocian underground cities. Some study the
geology of the region, some the ingenious way of closing the
galleries off, some go into deep detail to find out the
hydrological systems running underground. The book ends with a
complete survey and overview of all the sites found so far. Some
175 are documented with maps and photographs. The book contains 16
large colour photographs. All plans and pictures and figures have
an Italian and English explanation and legend. Some articles are
actually written in English, those that are written in Italian
have English summaries.

The Sub Brit studygroup is trying to set up a british newsgroup
concerning a discussion on souterrains at "uk.rec.underground".
They have posted a question:
---------------
Hello,

The RFD for uk.rec.underground has now appeared in
uk.net.news.config.

If you want to see this group created, it would help if you took
part in the debate in uk.net.news.config to support it.

Thanks,

Richard Lamont

---------------
Two questions:
- Please support this british initiative and give them your vote.
- If any one of you think it might be wise to set up an
international newsgroup at alt or rec or maybe even sci, please
let me know, so I can try to get things going.
