Cavers Mailing List     № 2

Автор: Cavers mailing list
Дата: 16 Nov 93

Выпуск #02 16.11.1993

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings!

I am sending out this invitation to all members of the Caver's Forum to
join a new mailing list. This list is called the Tag-net mailing list,
and will focus upon caving in the Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia region
of the southeastern United States.

Here are some questions and answers regarding TAG-NET:

Why am I getting this? I never heard of Tag!
---------------------------------------------
Unfortunately the member listing of the Caver's Forum is not broken down
into geographical regions. I wanted to make sure all Tag cavers on the
list received this invitation.

Will this list compete with the Caver's Forum mailing list?
-----------------------------------------------------------
No! This list is a way in which topics of local interest can be
discussed which would generally be to narrowly focused for the Caver's
Forum.

Who would benefit from the Tag mailing list?
--------------------------------------------
Anyone who resides in and/or caves in the T.A.G. area. While all are
invited to join, the regional nature of the discussion may not appeal
to everyone.

What topics might be discussed?
-------------------------------
Possible subject might include:

     Landowner relations
     Trip reports
     New cave discoveries
     Surveying of "Tag" caves
     Requests for caving companions
Queries for information on specific caves
     Regional conservation issues
     Grotto news
T.A.G Fall Cave In, S.E.R.A Cave Carnival, etc.
     Cave survey discussion (A.C.S., T.C.S., G.C.S.)

How does the Tag-net list work?
-------------------------------
The Tag-net is a simple `remailing' program that sends out any submissions
(or responses) to all the members on the list. I will be archiving the
activity of TAG-NET, and will make this log available to subscribers. The
list is currently operated by myself (Jeff Dilcher), and, at present, is
un-moderated.

How can I join Tag-net?
-----------------------
To join Tag-net, send a message to:

(leave the subject line blank, except for the word JOIN)

In the body of the message, give a short self introduction. Please
include your Name, Nss number (if any), City and State, Affiliations
(grottos, etc.), and email address. This message will be sent out to the
list once you are registered.

You will receive an email response confirming your membership, and
detailing how to submit articles/responses to the group.
