Slovakian Expedition to FYROM: Ponors of the Prespan lake.

FYROM and Solunska glava.

Cavers from the Red Mts.-speleoclub, Slovakia, explored in the october 2006
surroundings of the Babuna spring under Solunska Glava. In canyon above the
spring they discovered a cave (New Babuna) with an echo and droping water
behind. After throwing some stones out of the fissure a lake 20 x 6 m was
discovered. It was explored with a help of a transport bag filled with
polystyrene and PET bottles. Behind a corner lake closes itself, neither
looking to be a siphon.

Cavers explored also ponors of the Prespan lake near Dolna Gorica village.
Near bay with ponors they found a fissure blocked by a stone. After
removing it they entered a large cave, 100 m long. Inside they found a deep
lake 40 x 10 m. Children from the village helped them with an exploration
of the lake by bringing a big inner-tube removed out of a tyre. After
swimming the lake over cavers discovered a stream 15 m long and after
cutting the another fissure they discovered also another lake (7 x 7 m),
which turned to be a deep siphon. Theres a paradise for cave-divers.
Water from the cave emerges in the Ochrid lake situated more than 18 km
further and 157 m lower. After a rock amphitheatre with the ponor, the cave
was given a name of Zaver; thats how locals name it.
