6) Driftless Area Symposium and Karst Feature Mapping
1) Website for UIS Celebration and International Karstological School
The celebration of the 50 th Anniversary of the founding of the International Union of Speleology (UIS) will be held in Postojna,
Slovenia, with the 23 rd International Karstological School on 15-19 June 2015. For more information and to register, visit http://iks.zrc-sazu.si/en/index.html
2) Call for Proposals for Deep Time Workshop
STEPPE supports the scientific community to advance the study of the Earth’s sedimentary crust and the record of life and climate it archives. STEPPE is seeking proposals
for workshops to enable multi-disciplinary teams to come together to develop large multi-investigator proposals for external funding. During the 2013 Geological Society of America Convention, a session on deep time study of karst was held. Papers from that
session, among other topics, may serve as excellent topics for this proposal. Grants will be up to $15,000 to pay for travel and participant costs. For details, visit http://steppe.org/ .
3) Educational Bat Video
At http://ed.ted.com/lessons/i-m-batman-amy-wray you will find an excellent informational video/cartoon about bats, disease, and the many services bat provide. The video lasts only about 5 minutes but
touches on many important issues in a very accessible way, including White Nose Syndrome.
4) Karst Education and Art: Conference and Competition
On 23-26 September 2015, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Protect Karst Territories—Education and Training” will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria. Together with the conference,
our friends in Bulgaria are organizing the 3 rd International Competition: Karst Under Protection—Gift for the Future Generations. This educational art competition (drawings, video, essays, photos, multimedia, etc.) includes categories for children,
their teachers, and adults. The website at http://www.prokarstterra.bas.bg/forum2015/ is currently under construction, so you can find more information in the two attached files.
5) Future Earth Young Scientists Networking Conference on Integrated Science
and
Call for Applications: Future Sustainability – the Role of Science in Sustainable Development Goals
The third Young Scientists Networking Conference on Integrated Science will be held at Villa Vigoni, Italy from 24-30 May 2015. While this conference is not strictly
about karst, it is an excellent opportunity for young karst scientists to present their work and educate the larger scientific community about karst. Please click on the links below for full information:

The deadline for receipt of applications is December 22nd.
6) Driftless Area Symposium and Karst Feature Mapping
For those interested in the Midwest USA and the mapping of karst features, the 8 th Driftless Area Symposium will feature two tracks next year, one on managing the Driftless landscape (watershed projects, water quality
monitoring, and riparian management), and another on mapping karst features. The symposium will be held in La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA, on 3-4 February 2015. You will find more information at http://www.darestoration.com/Symposium.html .
