European Geophysical Union Karst Sessions

Dear karst lovers,

This year we are organizing two sessions related with karst during the EGU 2016, to be held as usual in Vienna, 17-22 April 2016.
We therefore invite you to participate in this event presenting one or more papers on karst from your research areas. These can include topics ranging
from speleogenesis to natural hazards, from paleoclimate reconstructions to hydrogeology, from pure geomorphology to speleothems and cave minerals, as long as it has to do with caves and karst.
Note that the deadline for presentation of abstracts is set at January 13th 2016!

The karst sessions are:

“Evaporite karst"
http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2016/session/20640
convener: Jo De Waele, co-conveners: Mario Parise and Jiri Bruthans

“Karst geomorphology and hazards in carbonate terrain”
http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2016/session/20677
convener: Mario Parise, co-convener: Natasa Ravbar and Jo De Waele

Authors of promising papers in the evaporite karst session will be asked to contribute to a special issue on "Evaporite Karst” to be published in
the International Journal of Speleology. In fact, 20 years have passed since the last special issue on gypsum karst of the world, edited by Klimchouk, Lowe, Cooper and Sauro in 1996, a benchmark in karst sciences.
It is time to make an update on this topic, and the best place to do so is the International Journal of Speleology.

Also prominent presentations of the Geomorphology session will be asked to contribute to a relevant international journal.

Info on the EGU General Assembly 2016 can be found at:  http://egu2016.eu/
And on how to submit an abstract:  http://egu2016.eu//abstract_management/how_to_submit_an_abstract.html

See you in Vienna

Jo De Waele, Mario Parise, Jiri Bruthans and Natasa Ravbar
