Artificial cavities

Автор: Joep Orbons
Дата: 30 Apr 1995

Dear caver,
Artificial cavities, or otherwise known as Souterrains, are man-made
subterranean structures like mines, quarries, railway and road-tunnels,
waterwells, military systems, troglodyte dwellings, etc, etc.
The UIS (Union International de Speleology) has set up a commission on
artificial cavities, of which I am the president, to make the study of these
souterrains known world wide.
The UIS Commission on artificial cavities is a group of people all over the
world that act as a knowledge network on artificial cavities. It does not
produce studies itself, but makes studies known world wide. This is done
through a newsletter called "Souterrains". Since Februari 1995 this
newsletter is also available on Internet at
http:/www.xs4all.nl/~jorbons/home.html. In it you will find a lot of
information on these souterrains all over the world.
I have some questions:
- Do you have addresses (not just E-Mail) of persons or groups who are
working on
  artificial cavities in your country?
- Do you have URL-addresses of souterrains-related web pages, so I can link
up with
  them?
- Do you know any persons who could act as a representative for their
country in
relation with these artificial cavities? I don't have a representative in
many country yet
and I would like to put all country on my map as well.
Anyone can mail me at the address at the bottom of this mail.
If you don't have an answer ready hand to my request, can you please pass it
through in you periodicals.
Best wishes and many thanks for your attention,
Joep Orbons
